NOVICE/BEGINNERS
Our course begins on our "Training Pond" where we learn safety techniques and basic strokes. From here we progress to the easier stretches of the creek and begin to get those white water strokes working. As your skills improve we then move to faster flowing water, all within the grounds of the Centre and under the expert eye of our instructors. If you wish, you may undertake an assessment to gain the Australian Canoeing Flat Water Skills Award.

INTERMEDIATE
Designed for those who have previously gained the basic award and wish to continue on in the sport and build on their skills. After a quick recap of the basic skills including safety, then its onto the creek to learn additional strokes as well as some fine tuning. This of course will mean tackling some more advanced and challenging areas of the creek. Again assessment is available for those who wish to gain the Australian Canoeing Canoe/Kayak Lifeguard Award.

ADVANCED
Once you have the skill and the confidence to do most moves, this stage is designed to really get the most out of your paddling. The emphasis here is to develop a greater understanding of river hydraulics, personal paddling skills and safety aspects involved when running rivers. These courses are all subject to availability of staff, course numbers and water flow. For more details email, write or phone. You can be assured of our prompt attention at all times. Discounts are available for group bookings.

RIVER RESCUE

We also run courses in river rescue techniques and equipment. These are suitable for kayak paddlers and rafters. This course should be a "MUST" for anyone who regularly paddles on moving water.

INSTRUCTOR
For those wishing to continue their training to obtain instructor awards with Australian Canoeing we offer intake and assessment courses for both White Water and Flat Water Guide or Instructor. More information on the Australian Canoeing Award requirements can be found on the Australian Canoeing web site or by contacting the Canoe Centre on
02 6649 4155.
